Clogged Sewer Line

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

So you’ve found yourself in the unfortunate position of having your sewer line clogged. That’s okay. We’ve got some advice for you.

Sewer line clogs are not only messy but are not healthy as one might imagine. Of course all clogs and stoppages can’t be prevented, but with preventative maintenance, they can be held to a minimum. I usually recommend a regimented hydro-jet cleaning schedule for restaurants and commercial establishments as grease is usually a big problem. I can also provide an all natural enzyme type drain treatment that can be applied by a home owner or proprietor of a business for a minimum cost per treatment. Not only is grease a problem for residences and businesses alike, soap scum, coffee grinds and food waste builds up in sewer lines over time. Regular treatment will rid your sewer lines of build up for great flowing drains.

Water Heater Leaking?

Monday, May 11th, 2009

From time to time folks in the Triangle area ask us about alternatives to water heaters with tanks. If your unit is leaking and has given you trouble in the past please read on for more information.

Tank type water heaters can create a huge mess if the tank ruptures. Tank type heaters are also not as efficient as the newest tankless water heaters available today. Tankless technology has been around for more than 50 years and has been used with great success as an energy and space saving tool for years overseas. A tankless unit takes up very little space and can even be installed on the outside of your home or business. These units are ultra efficient as they use no energy to keep water in a tank hot all day or all night just waiting for you to use some hot stored water. Tankless units only use energy when hot water is called for, heating the cold water instantaneously. There are numerous sizes and designs available for residential or commercial use.

Water Conservation Tips

Monday, May 4th, 2009

We’re going to take the time to answer some questions we hear all the time while out in the field. Considering the issues the Triangle area has had with water conservation it’s no surprise that people ask what they can do to cut their consumption. With summer right around the corner now is the perfect time to address this.

There are several plumbing products on the market today designed for water conservation. Some are consumer friendly, meaning that the “average Joe” can install these items himself, and some would be recommended to be installed by a licensed plumber. These items include:

  • 0.5/2.2 gallon per minute dual flow aerators for kitchen and break room sinks
  • shower heads rated at 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 gallons per minute for residential and commercial use
  • dual flush tank type toilets (0.75 gallons per flush for “#1″ and a full 1.6 gallons per flush for “#2″) Retro kits are available for existing 1.6 gpf toilets
  • “sensor” type lavatory faucets that automatically shut off after use
