Solar Water Division
When it comes to saving money on energy bills and saving the environment, there is no better option than solar. If you are considering the clean,
green alternative of solar as a homeowner or
business owner, turn to Progressive Plumbing & Drains, your resource for the latest solar
thermal water heating solutions in North Carolina.
Why Solar
Solar hot water systems are the only home improvement that will pay for itself, and then pay you! Using the sun's energy instead of fossil fuels is like owning your own power plant—the more you use, the more you save. This makes it ideal for high volume commercial properties like restaurants, hair salons, Laundromats, and more. In fact, solar hot water systems offer a better ROI (Return on Investment) than investing in the stock market!
How Do Solar Water Systems Work?
Closed loop solar water heating systems use a non-toxic heat-transfer fluid to collect heat. Then, a heat exchanger is used to transfer the collected heat. Active closed loop systems use electric pumps, valves, and controllers to circulate the heat-transfer fluid, usually a glycol-water antifreeze mixture, through the collectors. This non-toxic, glycol-water antifreeze mixture makes closed-loop glycol systems preferred in areas that are subject to occasional freezing weather, like North Carolina.
